I’m going to show you how to make Pork Shogayaki, a popular Japanese home-style side dish. It’s an easy recipe, so give it a try!
Ingredients
- Pork: 500g
- Cornstarch: 0.5 tablespoons
- Pepper: 0.2 tablespoons
- Cooking oil: 4 tablespoons
- Ginger: 20g
- Onion: 60g
- Minced garlic: 15g
- Cooking sake (or sherry): 70ml
- Mirin: 70ml
- Soy sauce: 70ml
- Sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Cabbage
- Green onion
- Lemon juice
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the following ingredients with the pork (500g):
- Cornstarch: 0.5 tablespoons
- Pepper: 0.2 tablespoons
In a pan, heat the following ingredient and stir-fry:
- Cooking oil: 4 tablespoons
- Pork
Once the pork is cooked, add the following ingredients:
- Ginger: 20g (sliced or grated)
- Onion: 60g (sliced)
- Garlic: 15g (minced)
In a separate bowl, mix the following ingredients to make the sauce:
- Cooking sake: 70ml
- Mirin: 70ml
- Soy sauce: 70ml
- Sugar: 2 tablespoons
Pour the sauce over the cooked pork and stir-fry until it thickens.
Once the sauce has thickened, add the following ingredients to finish:
- Cabbage (shredded)
- Green onion (chopped)
- Additional ginger (if desired)
- Lemon juice
