Today, I will share an easy recipe for making Mitarashi Dango, a famous Japanese dessert, at home.
Ingredients
- Glutinous rice flour: 150g
- Hot water: 100g
- Cooking oil
- Soy sauce: 4 tablespoons
- Mirin: 2 tablespoons
- Sugar: 4 tablespoons
- Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
- Water: 100g
Instructions
Mix the following ingredients to form a dough, then shape it into small balls:
- Glutinous rice flour: 150g
- Hot water: 100g
Place the dough in a steamer and steam for 15 minutes, then immediately transfer it to ice water.
Skewer the dango onto sticks and grill them over a fire:
- Cooking oil (for grilling)
If you prefer, you can use an air fryer at 190°C (375°F) for 10 minutes to make the outside crispy.

In a pan, combine the following ingredients and simmer on low heat to make the syrup:
